Denny Hamlin caught some air in the final round of NASCAR Cup Series qualifying for the Bank of America ROVAL 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, after spinning at the entrance to the backstretch chicane.

In the final round of qualifying for Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s ROVAL, Denny Hamlin went for a wild ride after a bobble entering the backstretch chicane.

Hamlin, who was making his first attempt at a flying lap in the second round of qualifying, was entering the backstretch chicane when his No. 11 Mavis Tires & Brakes Toyota Camry TRD broke loose and spun.

When the Chesterfield, Virginia native spun entering the corner, his entry spun sideways over the curbs, which sent the car awkwardly airborne, to the point where it looked like his No. 11 may tip over.

The incident occurred in the final minute of Saturday’s time trials session, which meant that the session would be unable to be continued, trapping both Hamlin and teammate Ty Gibbs without posting a lap.
