Chad Chastain, the younger brother of multi-time NASCAR National Series winner Ross Chastain, has been tapped to compete in Saturday’s Explore The Pocono Mountains 225 at Pocono Raceway, for DGM Racing.
The 24-year-old driver will get behind the wheel of the No. 91 Chevrolet Camaro for the fourth time this season, with sponsorship support from the Mar-Del Watermelon Association, the team announced Tuesday.
“I’m honored to carry the Mar-Del Watermelon Association colors as they ride along my Chevrolet at Pocono this weekend!” said Chad Chastain, driver of DGM Racing’s No. 91. “It is always an exciting weekend when my two passions collide, and I am eager to continue bringing awareness to the hard-working watermelon farmers across the country.”
When he isn’t racing and/or working on racecars, Chastain, an eighth-generation watermelon farmer, can be found working hard on his family’s watermelon farm, JDI Farms, in Southwest Florida.
“As a watermelon farmer himself, we know Chad Chastain will represent the Mar-Del Watermelon Association well,” said Mar-Del President, Haley Keenan. “We are looking forward to reaching a new audience of watermelon buyers and promoting agriculture in our area at this weekend’s race!”
In three previous starts for DGM Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Chastain has recorded a career-best finish of 24th, which came in his series debut at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The Alva, Florida native is set to make his first-ever start on a speedway measuring more than 1.5 miles in length, contesting the 2.5-mile triangle-shaped Speedway in Pennsylvania.
DGM Racing, which fields a pair of entries on a full-time basis in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, comes off a pair of back-to-back top-10 results from mainstay driver Josh Williams at Atlanta Motor Speedway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
