Martin Truex Jr. needed Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Toyota / Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway to run green to the finish. He had a large lead, and it looked like he was safely going to win the race.
He still may win the race, but his teammate Denny Hamlin made things a little more difficult for him.
On Lap 92, Hamlin caught the inside wall in Turn 11, and then on corner exit, Hamlin caught the outside wall on the frontstretch. As Hamlin contacted the wall, his No. 11 car spun out and he collided with the inside wall. In the process, Hamlin’s car suffered a broken toe link.
