A 19-car accident erupted in the second stage of Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Darlington Raceway, taking out several legit contenders for the victory.

Well, that’s not something you usually see at Darlington Raceway, or often in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for that matter.

In Saturday’s Shriners Children’s 200 at Darlington, a huge accident erupted as Richard Childress Racing teammates Sheldon Creed and Austin Hill were battling for a position inside the top three, which sent them spinning and caused a melee behind.

There were several strong cars involved in the accident on Lap 67, including Sam Mayer, who had led the opening portion of Saturday’s 200-mile event. However, the driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro would continue inside the top five.

In total, 19 cars received some damage in the accident, including Stefan Parsons (07), Sam Mayer (1), Sheldon Creed (2), Brennan Poole (6), Brandon Jones (9), Daniel Hemric (11), Chandler Smith (16), Ryan Truex (19), John Hunter Nemechek (20), Austin Hill (21), Brett Moffitt (25), Kyle Sieg (28), Ryan Ellis (43), Sage Karam (44), Parker Kligerman (48), Jeremy Clements (51), Carson Hocevar (77), and Josh Williams (92).

Of those cars involved, Ryan Ellis, Brandon Jones, Ryan Truex, and Chandler Smith were forced to retire from the event, as a result of heavy damage to their vehicles.
