Alex Bowman and Conner Morrell went for a wild ride after contact while battling for second sent them both flipping through the air.

UPDATE: Wednesday, April 26th at 1:38 PM ET —

Alex Bowman will officially be sidelined for 3-4 weeks following Tuesday night’s crash at 34 Raceway in Iowa, after he sustained a compression fracture of his vertebra in the accident.

Hendrick Motorsports confirmed Bowman’s injury and status on Wednesday following Bowman receiving treatment locally on Tuesday night and having a re-evaluation on Wednesday morning in Charlotte, North Carolina.

While battling for the second position in the opening 1-2 Heat Race of the night in the High Limit Racing Series event at 34 Raceway, Alex Bowman and Conner Morrell went for a wild ride.

As Bowman, who was on the low side, and Morrell, who was on the high side, made contact, the two winged sprint cars went flying through the air.

Fortunately, both drivers were able to climb from the wreckage unscathed. Both drivers will still have a chance to advance to the A-Main, as they will be in the lineup for the C-Main on Tuesday night.

For Bowman, the driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro for Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series, Tuesday marked his 30th birthday.
