Tyler Hill and Hill Motorsports will not compete in Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Texas Motor Speedway, after sustaining extensive damage to the No. 56 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro in practice.
Scheduled to make his first NASCAR Truck Series start of the season, Hill was involved in a single-vehicle accident during the series’ sole practice session on Saturday, which occurred just hours before the start of the SpeedyCash.com 250.
The Port Tobacco, Maryland native was running at speed in turns one and two when his No. 56 MF1 Fantasy Racing Toyota Tundra broke loose at the corner exit, before snapping around and making significant contact with the outside wall.
Prior to the accident, the 28-year-old driver had posted the 31st-quickest lap in Saturday’s practice session, of the 36 trucks that attended this weekend’s event at Texas.
Hill Motorsports, a family-owned operation primarily run by brothers Timmy and Tyler Hill, posted a statement to social media after loading up the No. 56, saying that the team does not have a backup truck available for the race.
Unfortunately after a crash in practice we will not be able to race in today’s event @TXMotorSpeedway. The damage sustained was too excessive and we do not have a backup. Thank you to @MF1Updates for the support this weekend.

The statement reads: “Unfortunately, after a crash in practice we will not be able to race in today’s event at Texas Motor Speedway. The damage sustained was too excessive and we do not have a backup. Thank you to MF1 Updates for the support this weekend.”
A fan in the grandstands at Texas Motor Speedway was able to capture video of the accident as it was happening, which shows Hill backing his No. 56 into the outside wall in turn two.
Hill wasn’t the only driver to run into issues during Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series practice from Texas, as hometown driver Kaden Honeycutt also ran into issues, crashing his No. 04 Carquest Ford F-150.
Roper Racing Team has not officially determined whether or not they’ll be able to compete in Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Texas Motor Speedway. However, Honeycutt was unable to take time in qualifying.
