ORIGINAL STORY: Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 3:28 PM ET

Scott Borchetta, the team owner for the Big Machine Racing team in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, has been transported to a local hospital after suffering a massive crash on lap 24 of Sunday’s Trans Am Series event at Road Atlanta.

While a video of the crash, as it happened, has not been provided by the Trans Am broadcast team, Borchetta went off course in the high-braking Turn 1 of the 12-turn course.

Borchetta was extracted from his No. 48 race car, and after a lengthy clean up the race resumed. The Trans Am broadcast team gave an update on Borchetta’s condition saying, “I can tell you [Scott] is okay. He is conscious, and he’s been talking to his team, but he is on his way to the hospital. It was a big hit, but I am glad to say he is now in good care and being taken to the hospital. That’s the latest.”

At this time, no further update has been given on Borchetta’s medical condition, although TobyChristie.com has reached out to the Trans Am Series and the Big Machine Racing team for an update on Borchetta’s condition. If an update is provided, this story will be updated.

Borchetta, 60, in addition to being a race car driver, is an American record executive and founder of the Big Machine Label Group. The California native has competed in 34 Trans Am Series events since the 2020 season. Borchetta has one podium finish in that span.

Parker Kligerman pilots the No. 48 Big Machine Racing entry in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and sits 11th in the championship standings after the opening six events of the 2023 season.
