Shocking news from JR Motorsports, as Ryan Pemberton, who has been with the NASCAR Xfinity Series team since 2012, has amicably parted ways with the organization effective immediately.
Under the guidance of Pemberton, JR Motorsports captured three NASCAR Xfinity Series championships and 58 of the team’s 67 NXS wins (86.6%) have come with Pemberton in place. Needless to say, this is a big departure for JRM.
“Ryan has been essential to JRM’s success over the past decade,” said L.W. Miller, JRM’s director of motorsports in a team release. “We asked a lot of him when he came here in 2012, and he not only embraced the challenge, but he helped us right the ship. In the process, he laid the groundwork for a winning culture. Ryan’s given this organization a tremendous amount and I can’t thank him enough.”
Pemberton says he is proud of the success he had at JRM, and he is so blessed that he had fun while achieving some really cool feats. Now, he’ll spend time at home with those that he cares about the most, while figuring out what is next.
“There are so many talented people at JR Motorsports and I’m fortunate to have been part of it,” said Pemberton. “We won a lot of races and a few championships, but more importantly we had fun doing it. I’m grateful to Dale, Kelley and L.W. for everything and so very proud of what we were able to accomplish together. I’m looking forward to spending some much-needed time with my family while I decide what the next chapter holds.”
According to the release from JR Motorsports, Miller will serve as interim director of competition for the remainder of the 2022 season, in addition to his role as director of motorsports.
2022 has been a banner year for JR Motorsports, which has captured eight wins between their four cars through the opening 22 races of the season. All four of their drivers sit inside the top-nine of the NASCAR Xfinity Series point standings and the organization has scored 25 Stage Wins out of a possible 44 this year.
