Chase Elliott is without his car chief Matt Barndt and the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports team will be docked 15-minutes of practice time next weekend at Auto Club Speedway as a result of failing inspection twice on Saturday at LVMS.
According to FoxSports’ Bob Pockrass, the issue was a spot on the right door of Elliott’s car.
Elliott car good on third time through. It was an issue with a spot on the right-side door. When attempted to fix, another spot was not in compliance. Will get to start where qualified. #nascar ?@NASCARONFOX? pic.twitter.com/QBVNAvn9cw

Luckily, the No. 9 car passed on its third inspection attempt. Had it not, Elliott would have had to start Sunday’s race from the rear of the field.
