UPDATE: GRIFFITH WILL RUN FULL-SEASON FOR CHAD BRYANT RACING IN NO. 2 FORD FUSION
Chad Bryant Racing (CBR) and Derek Griffith will have a new sponsor aboard the the No. 2 Ford Fusion for not only this weekends race at Five Flags Speedway, but the remainder of the 2020 ARCA Menards Series East schedule.
Original Gourmet™ Food Company will adorn the No. 2 Ford Fusion for the rest of the season, allowing Griffith and CBR to run the remainder of the 2020 ARCA Menards Series East schedule, and in turn, putting themselves at the top of the list of who could challenge Sam Mayer for the 2020 ARCA East Championship.
“I am so blessed for this opportunity to represent Original Gourmet™ Food Company and compete for the ARCA Menards Series East championship,“ said Griffith. “This is a great chance to bring a new partner into the sport and bring a product that race fans can enjoy while watching our Chad Bryant Racing compete for the championship title.”
“I’m eager to get to Five Flags this weekend and finish what we started at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway.”
“It’s going to be a fun season,” added Griffith. “With the support of the Original Gourmet™ Food Company, we’ll not only have the opportunity to win races, but we will also contend for the series’ championship – something I didn’t think we’d be able to do. Hopefully with the strength of our team, we can put a ‘licking’ on the rest of the competition.”
In addition to a chance at the ARCA Menards Series East Championship, Griffith will join the likes of Connor Hall and Jacob Heafner in Chad Bryant Racing’s driver development program.
“Derek impressed a lot of people at New Smyrna and he’ll only continue to turn heads as the ARCA Menards Series East season marches on,” offered Bryant. “He is extremely talented and our performance last month is just a taste of what is to come from our No. 2 Chad Bryant Racing team.
“We’re happy to carry the Original Gourmet™ colors and look forward to celebrating with them a lot in 2020.”
Following an incredible ARCA East debut with Chad Bryant Racing at New Smyrna Speedway in early February, many fans were left wondering if Derek Griffith would return to the seat of the No. 2 Ford Fusion to contest another race win in the ARCA East Series, or potentially even the series championship.
Although, the only problem facing the 23-year old was one that many racecar drivers across the country face every day. Griffith needed funding in order to run additional races with Chad Bryant Racing in the No. 2 Ford Fusion.
Griffith then took to Twitter, explaining the situation to his followers, stating that he had the chance to run Five Flags Speedway and potentially even the full schedule, if they could find some sponsorship to be on the Chad Bryant Racing entry.
Alright everyone, we have a chance to run the #2 again at @FiveFlagsSpeed IF we get some sponsors on board with us. We also have the incredible option to run the full @ARCA_Racing East season with @ChadBryantRace. This will not be possible unless some people hop on board! pic.twitter.com/UEdqhG4sxY

Griffith even reached out to Barstool Sports President Dave Portnoy on Twitter, trying to strike a deal to get Barstool sports on the No. 2 Ford Fusion for Chad Bryant Racing.
Hey @rubbinisracing / @barstoolsports Pensacola is right around the corner and we still need a sponsor for the season or at least the race! Help a real grassroots guy make it in NASCAR please! pic.twitter.com/zAfJykBuhc

Although the Barstool Tweet didn’t pan out like many fans wanted it too, it was evident Griffith was working incredibly hard to get the funding he needed to return to the series for another week and it paid off
Griffith will return to the No. 2 Ford Fusion for Chad Bryant Racing in this weekend’s Pensacola 200 Presented by Inspectra Thermal Solutions at Five Flags Speedway, with sponsorship from Original Gourmet Lollipops.
Griffith enters Pensacola second in ARCA Menard’s Series East Point Standings, second to race-winner Sam Mayer. A good run on Saturday could not only draw attention to the 23-year old, but could also move him into the points lead, positioning himself as a legitimate contender for the 2020 ARCA Menard’s Series East Championship, if the funding can be found for him to run full-time.
The Pensacola 200 Presented by Inspectra Thermal Solutions will take place this Saturday, March 14th at 7:00 PM/EST, and will air live on NBC Sports Gold Trackpass. Eighteen drivers are entered for the second race of the 2020 ARCA Menard’s Series East.
