Hendrick Motorsports ‘Committed’ to Running Four Xfinity Series Races in 2023

Hendrick Motorsports is “committed” to fielding the No. 17 Chevrolet Camaro in four NASCAR Xfinity Series events in 2023, according to team president and general manager Jeff Andrews.

Hendrick Motorsports’ return to compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2022, after nearly 15 years away from the second-tier series, will continue for a second consecutive season, albeit still on a very limited schedule.

The official confirmation of the program’s return came as part of a team release on Thursday, where Jeff Andrews – team president and general manager of Hendrick Motorsports – was speaking about the upcoming season.

“Right now we are committed to running four [NASCAR Xfinity Series] races in 2023,” Andrews said. “We are defining what those are right now. We want to win an Xfinity Series race in 2023.”

Last season, Hendrick Motorsports fielded the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro in four NASCAR Xfinity Series events at Road America, Indy’s Road Course, Watkins Glen, and Darlington, for Cup Series drivers Kyle Larson, Alex Bowman, and William Byron.

In each of the four events, the No. 17 was in contention to secure the victory, but came up just short, including a pair of runner-up finishes at Road America (Larson) and Indy’s Road Course (Bowman).

At Watkins Glen (Byron) and Darlington (Larson), the entry was in a prime position to take the victory, before an incident of some capacity caused both drivers to fall outside of the top three.

While Andrews did confirm that the organization will return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2023, there was no official confirmation on the races the team would compete in, or the driver(s) of the entry.
