Justin Edgell, Tire Carrier For No. 17 RFK Racing Team Taken to Hospital After Being Struck on Pit Road

RFK Racing has shared overhead video of the pit stop where Justin Edgell, the No. 17 team’s tire carrier, was injured.

It appears in the video that Edgell was clipped by Daniel Suarez’s No. 99 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet.

Justin Edgell, the tire carrier for Chris Buescher’s No. 17 RFK Racing team, has been released from a local hospital after being evaluated further following being struck on pit road by another car during a round of pit stops in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway.

According to RFK Racing, the 36-year-old crew member did no suffer any fractures or serious injuries and will fly home with the team to North Carolina.

Scary moments on pit road in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway as Justin Edgell, the tire carrier for the No. 17 RFK Racing team has been transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

According to a tweet from RFK Racing, Edgell was struck by a competitor on pit road during a set of pit stops.

No further information on Edgell’s condition has been given at this time, and this story will be updated as more information becomes available.

According to RFK Racing, a member of the No. 47 JTG Daugherty Racing team has joined the No. 17 RFK Racing team and will carry the tires for Buescher for the remainder of Sunday’s race.

Edgell, 36, has served as the tire carrier for Chris Buescher and the No. 17 RFK Racing team for the entire 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Due to a joint effort from Buescher behind the wheel, and with Edgell and the pit crew as well as crew chief Scott Graves, the No. 17 team has enjoyed a very competitive campaign this year.

Buescher, who missed one race due to COVID-19, has recorded career-highs in top-five finishes (three), top-10s (10), laps led (194) and Buescher scored his second-career NASCAR Cup Series win in the night race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
