Unfortunately, there was a massive eight-car pileup on lap 102 of Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway. Fortunately, none of the four Championship 4 contenders were involved.
JR Motorsports’ Sam Mayer and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Sammy Smith got into a heated battle for position, and by the time the duo reached Turn 4 on lap 102, they were making plenty of contact. The final nudge was hard enough to send Mayer spinning.
