Kyle Busch brought out the first caution of the day in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and now holds the record for most incidents in a NASCAR Cup Series season with 26. Screengrab from NBC race broadcast.

It has been a rough season for Kyle Busch in 2022, as he was eliminated in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs in the Round of 16, and now he has the unceremonial record for most incidents in a NASCAR Cup Series season, according to the TobyChristie.com Incident Tracker.

On Lap 77 of Sunday’s South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the Las Vegas native lost control of his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry off of Turn 4.

This sent him spinning through the infield grass and brought out the first caution of the race. This incident marks the 26th incident of the season for Busch, which moves him past John Hunter Nemechek’s previous record of 25 incidents, which occurred in the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Nemechek’s 25 incidents came during his rookie season in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Heading into the day, Busch was tied with NASCAR Cup Series rookie Harrison Burton for the most incidents in 2022 with 25 each.
