Daniil Kvyat – who made his NASCAR Cup Series debut earlier this year at Indy’s Road Course – will have a busy weekend approaching at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s ROVAL, competing in both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series events.

Kvyat, 28, will join forces with Toyota-aligned organization Sam Hunt Racing to make his debut in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, piloting the No. 26 Toyota GR Supra with sponsorship from Nemaco.

The 28-year-old joins a continuously growing crop of drivers that have competed for Sam Hunt Racing this season, as the team competes in its second full-time Xfinity Series campaign.

Jeffrey Earnhardt, John Hunter Nemechek, Santino Ferrucci, and Derek Griffith are among the drivers that have competed for Sam Hunt Racing this season, primarily in the No. 26 entry.

A native of Ufa, Russia, Kvyat has begun to test the waters in NASCAR’s National Series this season, competing in a pair of NASCAR Cup Series events in a second entry for Team Hezeberg, at Indianapolis and Watkins Glen.

Josh Reaume, owner of Reaume Brothers Racing, which fields entries for Team Hezeberg, tells that Kvyat will return to the No. 26 Toyota Camry in the NASCAR Cup Series event on October 9.

According to Reaume, competing in Saturday’s Drive for the Cure 250 allows Kvyat to gain some much-needed track time ahead of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race, where he hopes to improve upon a career-best 36th-place finish.

Although Kvyat’s prior racing experience comes on road courses, having competed in Formula One from 2014 to 2022, Charlotte Motor Speedway’s ROVAL is a completely different animal, one that doesn’t exist in Formula One.
