IndyCar has announced a nine position grid penalty for Romain Grosjean for Saturday night’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.

The Andretti Autosport crew changed the engine on the No. 28 Honda following the recent Music City Grand Prix at Nashville. A driver is eligible to use a fifth engine in a season without penalty if they complete 10,000 miles with their first four race engines.

Because this is Grosjean’s fifth engine without completing 10,000 miles, he will drop nine positions after Friday afternoon’s qualifying session. This penalty in a road or street course race weekend would be six positions.
