Hunter McElrea bested the field in qualifying to capture pole for Saturday Indy Lights race at Iowa Speedway.
Piloting the No. 27 Andretti Autosport machine, the 22-year-old put together a two-lap average of 159.503 mph around the 0.894-mile oval to claim his third pole – second consecutive – of the 2022 season.

Championship leader Linus Lundqvist made a two-lap run at 159.339 mph to qualify second in the No. 26 HMD Motorsports with Dale Coyne Racing entry.
Sting Ray Robb, Daniel Frost and Christian Rasmussen complete the rest of the top five. Jacob Abel in the No. 51 Abel Motorsports entry was sixth, followed by Christian Bogle in seventh.
The eighth spot belongs to the No. 83 Andretti Autosport machine of Matthew Brabham, with Benjamin Pedersen in ninth.
Ernie Francis Jr., driving the No. 99 Force Indy entry, claimed the final spot in the top 10.
