Ty Dillon and the No. 42 Petty GMS Motorsports team will have a new look on their Chevrolet Camaro as the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Daytona International Speedway for the regular season finale in August. Thorntons, a convenience store chain in six states (Kentucky, Indiana, Florida, Illinois, Tennessee and Ohio) will serve as the primary sponsor.
On Wednesday, Petty GMS not only revealed the sponsorship deal, but they also showed off the new look for their No. 42 machine and it looks sporty.

The paint scheme is red, white and dark gray and it is an incredible design. The dark gray creates a card of sorts on the sides of the car to house the No. 42, while the red accents cut through the gray and white portions of the scheme.
Petty GMS Motorsports, the two-car organization that was built from an offseason pairing of Richard Petty Motorsports and GMS Racing, has had some real flashes of brilliance in 2022. The team’s No. 43 entry, driven by Erik Jones has been extremely close to victory lane on numerous occasions.
Meanwhile, Dillon, who sits 27th in the championship standings after 19 races, has been smooth, methodical and consistent throughout the year.
Dillon has one top-10 finish, and five top-15s this season, and he only has three DNFs. All three of Dillon’s DNFs came at superspeedway type races (Daytona, Talladega or Atlanta) where the big one looms large.
