Rookie David Malukas Tops Warm-Up Session at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

David Malukas ended up at the top of the timesheets in morning warm-up for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio.

The 20-year-old, who qualified eighth for the race in the No. 18 Dale Coyne Racing with HMD Motorsports Honda, led a straightforward session with a flying lap of 1m07.7110s (120.051 mph) on the 13-turn, 2.258-mile natural terrain road course.

Chip Ganassi Racing Alex Palou was a distant second, trailing the rookie by 0.2539s. The reigning NTT IndyCar Series champion was ahead of teammate Marcus Ericsson, who ended up third.

Defending race winner Josef Newgarden put the No. 2 Team Penske Chevrolet fourth, ahead of Juncos Hollinger Racing rookie Callum Ilott in fifth.

Scott McLaughlin, Colton Herta, Rinus VeeKay, Alexander Rossi and Takuma Sato completed the rest of the top 10.
