Austin Wayne Self has elected to ‘temporarily step back’ from his duties as the primary driver for AM Racing, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Self – who alongside his wife, Jennifer, welcomed their daughter Zepplyn Jane into the world last week — has elected to skip Saturday’s Clean Harbors 150 at Knoxville Raceway, and is expected to return no later than Mid-Ohio on July 9.

Brett Moffitt will pilot the No. 22 AM Technical Solutions Chevrolet Silverado in Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Knoxville, with no additional drivers announced beyond that.

According to the team’s statement, AM Racing will not be requesting any further driver championship waivers from NASCAR.
