It has been an absolutely horrendous weekend for Spire Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series, one that was already difficult when Corey LaJoie crashed in the opening minutes of practice on Saturday.
Now, just over 60 laps into Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600, both of the organization’s entries have retired from the event, after a pair of accidents that brought out a pair of caution flags in the first stage.
For LaJoie, it was the second blown tire and outside wall impact of the weekend, both of which resulted in pretty substantial hits. Sunday’s accident, ironically enough, mirrors that of Saturday, pointing to a potential issue in the Spire Motorsports camp.

Unfortunately, LaJoie would be forced to retire from the event, which would result in a 35th-place finish for the Spire Motorsports driver.
