Go Bowling 250: NASCAR Xfinity DFS and Betting for DraftKings

The NASCAR Xfinity DFS and Betting Preview takes aim at Richmond Raceway this weekend for the Go Bowling 250. We’ve gone back-to-back on picking winners in our Best Bets section, and it’s time to go three-for-three. DFS has been hit or miss with a good bit of attrition over the last several races.

Me and The Garage Guys have been on fire overall after I delivered a Darlington sweep of winners last weekend (Creed +400, Gragson +700, and Hamlin +700), and the train doesn’t stop here. The momentum needs to carry strong into the Xfinity playoffs when they begin in two weeks at Las Vegas.

Let’s get into the nuggets.

At the top of the headlines, Dale Earnhardt Jr. makes his token annual return to race at a track that has treated him well throughout his entire career. He will start 30th in his JR Motorsports #8 that Josh Berry has had so much success in this season. Jeb Burton piloted that #8 to a strong 2nd place finish in the second race of the Richmond double-header in 2020.

Since Jr. started his schedule of one race per season after his Cup Series retirement, he has finished in the Top 5 in all three races he competed in from 2018-2020. He led 96 laps and finished 4th here in 2018.

JR Motorsports collectively has this place figured out, as Justin Allgaier swept both Richmond races last season. He lead a combined 213 laps between the two races. JR Motorsports drivers accrued seven of eight possible Top 10’s between these two races.

Seems like it’s gonna be the JR show on Saturday. Can anybody else spoil the party?

How about Ty Gibbs?

I was watching Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace last night. When Anakin Skywalker is competing in the pod-racing as a young child and defeats all the other old and dried-up competitors, I am reminded of Ty Gibbs.

Trust me: I want Dale Jr. to win this race so, so badly on the 20th anniversary of 9-11- which would also be reminiscent of his Dover in 2001 just shortly after the tragic attacks. But if there’s anybody who will screw that up for America, it’s Ty Gibbs. He’s very due.

Let’s get right into some picks.

NASCAR DFS Xfinity Picks for DraftKings

Ty Gibbs: #54 JGR Toyota – $11,200

As I said, Ty is very due. Pairing him with the blazing-fast #54 is a bad omen for the competition on Saturday. His results as of recent have been lackluster with two consecutive finishes outside the Top 10, but I expect that to change on Saturday.

Richmond is a tough short track, but the scope of difficulty has not impacted Gibbs this season. Two road course wins, two oval wins, and eight Top 5’s in twelve starts this season at a variety of different tracks prove the pudding. With a P15 starting spot leaving extra points on the table for place-differential, book Gibbs as my top play this weekend.

Dale Earnhardt Jr: #8 JR Motorsports Chevrolet – $12,000

I do not let emotion get in the way of my picks. Seriously.

I just studied statistics and know how successful Jr. is at Richmond. I also think this could be his last race ever. He’s here to win.

Dating back to 1998 (Woah), Jr. has four wins, six Top 5’s, and seven Top 10’s. Yeah; I know there will be those people that say “But he’s washed. He doesn’t have it anymore”. Go ahead. This #8 car is a proven winning machine with a proven winning driver behind the wheel this weekend.

Jr. will start 30th on Saturday which is the biggest contributor to his price being so high. I believe it’s worth it though. He will be in the mix for the win throughout the day.

JJ Yeley: Rick Ware Racing Chevrolet- $7,400

Yeley is back in the #17 which, when he runs it, typically has solid speed. In nine total starts this season, Yeley has four Top 15 finishes and no finish worse than 24th.

There’s not much else to this one. Yeley’s experience and his reliability of finishing races has me believing he is a steal at that price of $7,400. He’s averaging 39.9 FP per race this season and will start 29th on Saturday.

Kyle Weatherman: #47 MHR Chevrolet – $5,300

Since I’m going top-heavy this weekend, gotta find someone in this price range to play. I actually do like Weatherman this weekend.

Weatherman finished 20th and 26th in the two Richmond races last season, and has shown decent speed many times this season. He finished 22nd at Dover and 19th at Loudon, which have been the last two “shorter” tracks on the schedule- if you will.

Loudon often translates to Richmond due to the similarities in the banking. I’m not saying Weatherman will finish 19th, but I think there’s some potential there.

This team also has experienced substantially less DNF’s due to electrical or mechanical gremlins than last season, so I have confidence here as long as Weatherman keeps it clean. He starts 32nd and is absolutely worth a gamble in your lineups.
