It’s time for NASCAR DFS action during the 2021 NASCAR Playoffs Garage Fam! This Sunday we prepare to feast at the Cook Out Southern 500 on DraftKings and FanDuel (but on fat stacks of cash instead of burgers).
Darlington Raceway is a treacherous beast (but a beautiful one) who will literally leave a stripe on your car if you don’t understand her. Lucky for us we just have to know who her soul mates are and use them as our picks.
The Lady In Black (Darlington Raceway) is one of the few NASCAR tracks that are considered a crown jewel. Its weird D-shaped oval creates a challenge for drivers, which is why it’s labeled “A Drivers Track”.
When you’re building a NASCAR DFS lineup for Darlington Raceway, it’s important to remember that stacking drivers with the best equipment starting inside the Top 10 is crucial. A normal race at this track will have anywhere between 8-15 cars on the lead lap by race end.
You’ll most definitely want to have some guys starting towards the rear of the field, but avoid the bottom of the barrel guys (don’t try to go “Quinning” out there). Fortunately, the non-qualifying style of racing we have allowed some guys to slip through the cracks who had rough finishes last week at Daytona.

Cook Out Southern 500: NASCAR DFS Picks For DraftKings, FanDuel
#5 Kyle Larson – (DK – $11,500 | FD – $K)
I’ve got a feeling that Larson is about to unleash all of the Terry Two Time Energy now that the playoffs are here. Darlington is a track that Larson has been good at his entire career, and with him starting P6, it’s a no-brainer to make sure he is in your lineups this week. There has been only ONE race at this track where Larson didn’t finish inside the Top 10, so don’t go trying to re-invent the wheel by fading him at Darlington on DraftKings and FanDuel.
#24 William Byron – (DK – $10,700 | FD – $K)
William Byron (AKA Willy B, Billy B, WillBy, or my personal favorite “Bill”) is starting P14 on Sunday, and he’s in a great spot to trot the Hendrick Horses and gain place differential. Looking at his history at this track, you may feel a bit weary ( I did too at first), but calm your nerves because we have seen a far more consistent year from Wonder Boy 2. Byron should consistently run inside the Top 10 all race, and will probably be overlooked by most in GPP tournaments.
#17 Chris Buescher – (DK – $7,800 | FD – $K)
Chris Buescher is the most obvious chalk play on the board this week, and Dale Tanhardt is hating it (Watch the show to understand…..EL OH EL). Buescher was a “cheating boi” in Daytona last weekend, and because of him and his team’s schemes, he was disqualified. We love this though because, without his cheating ways, we wouldn’t have a guy who has good equipment starting in P34.
#14 Chase Briscoe – (DK – $6,300 | FD – $K)
I stand firm by my statement when I say that DraftKings ROYALLY effed up by pricing Chase Briscoe this low, and now we can take full advantage of it this Sunday in our lineups! Briscoe has one of the more impressive records at this track over the course of his Xfinity Series career, and it’s already bled into his NASCAR Cup Series career as well. Briscoe will start P24 on Sunday, and will easily be able to showcase his skill moving through the pack throughout the race.
