ARCA Distributes Penalties to Three Venturini Motorsports Team Members, Kevin Reed Jr. Suspended Indefinitely

On Thursday Afternoon, officials from the ARCA Menards Series announced that the sanctioning body will be handing down penalties to three members of the Venturini Motorsports organization, following the Henry Ford Health Systems 200 at Michigan International Speedway, that took place on Friday, August 20

Kevin Reed Jr. has been fined $1,500 by ARCA Menards Series officials, while also being indefinitely suspended from competition in the series, based on the violation of 2021 ARCA Rulebook Section 12-8.1, which references ARCA Member Condust Guidelines, specifically public statement and/or communication that criticizes, ridicules or otherwise disparages another person based upon that person’s race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age or handicapping condition.

ARCA Menards Series officials did not explicitly state the reasoning behind the penalties for Dollar, Reed Jr. or Reed Sr, but there is reason to believe that a post-race incident outside of the facility was at least an influence in the decision.

Following an on-track incident between Drew Dollar and Thad Moffitt, and Moffitt’s subsequent retaliation on the Venturini Motorsports driver, there were multiple reports of homophobic slurs being shouted across the airport parking lot, including mention of the incident in this Tweet by a member of David Gilliland Racing’s PR team.

Additionally, based on non-compliant activities during and after the ARCA Menards Series event at Michigan International Speedway, both Kevin Reed Jr. and Drew Dollar have been handed monetary fines by series officials, also in violation of ARCA Rulebook Section 12-8.1, which references ARCA Member Conduct Guidelines. Dollar was fined $1,000 for his actions, while Reed Jr. was fined $500 and placed on probation for the remainder of the 2021 ARCA Menards Series season.

  1. What are they going to do to Thad Moffit for his part . You do just go out and wreck another car. He needs to be parked for the rest of the season. Just my opinion.

  2. Actually they need to hand him the penalties too but NASCAR condones wrecking others just because you can attitude so they won’t. I have never figured out why they find it so difficult to flag people for using up the competition for self gain. It’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. Kinda like going out and slapping a 5 year old kid in the face to steal there candy.
