Video: Patrick Emerling Edges Justin Bonsignore in Photo Finish to Win NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Race at Lancaster

WOW! Has there ever been some good racing this weekend.

New York’s Patrick Emerling, who has run a part-time schedule in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series over the last few seasons, scored an incredible win in Saturday night’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at Lancaster Speedway.

With two laps to go, Emerling received a bump from Justin Bonsignore, which sent him up the track. Emerling maintained his composure and held off a furious charge from Bonsignore for the win in a photo finish.

Dave Moody and Alex Hayden provided the call on NBC’s Trackpass, watch the final couple of laps:

The official margin of victory was just 0.045-second. This is Emerling’s second NWMT win of the year and he has now pulled to within six points of Bonsignore for the 2021 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour point lead after Saturday night’s race.

Following Emerling and Bonsignore to the finish was Mac McLaughlin in third, Jon McKennedy finished fourth and Eric Goodale came home fifth.

Doug Coby, a six-time champion in this series, finished ninth. Coby, of course forfeited one of the races this season in order to compete in the Camping World SRX Series at Stafford Speedway. Coby won that SRX Racing event and will now make his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at Bristol Motor Speedway this season.
