JR Motorsports, Tire Pros Allowing Fans to Decide Bristol Scheme For Mayer

(Renders: JRM)

As Sam Mayer prepares to take on Bristol Motor Speedway for the first time as a NASCAR Xfinity Series driver, fans are getting the opportunity to decide how his No. 8 Camaro will look in September.

JR Motorsports and sponsor Tire Pros, who signed on for races involving both Mayer and Josh Berry for 2021, are presenting three unique Tire Pros Camaros for fans to vote between.

Winning the ARCA Bristol race last September for GMS Racing, the Last Great Colosseum is sure to be a major circle on Mayer’s calendar.

Each paint scheme has its own unique style and design, coming from the creative mind of Ryan Williams, a graphic designer at JR Motorsports. The North Carolina designer has boasted a strong 2021 resume for the organization, including Justin Allgaier’s winning AXALTA scheme from Atlanta earlier this season and Josh Berry’s Tire Pros throwback at Darlington.

The first option – entitled “Yeah” features a metallic silver base design with DayGlo Red accenting, which is sure to pop under the lights at Bristol. Willams told TobyChristie.com that the design is based on Sterling Marlin’s classic Coors Light Dodge.

“I’m a sucker for dayglo so I’ll look for any excuse to use it,” Williams said.

“Also Yeah” is the second option, which trades the metallic silver for a darker palette, with a complex pattern resembling tire treads that circumference the car.

“For option 2 I built out the black shapes first and looked for something to fill in the empty space. Then I dropped in the tire texture from the logo and now we’re cooking with grease,” Williams explained.

Finally, the third option, appropriately named “third car”, falls more in line with the current Tire Pros design that Williams originally created. Featuring “random geometric shapes” as Williams describes it, the car features a brighter look, leaving barely any chance fans wouldn’t be able to identify the car’s sponsor.

“Option 3 I think is a super solid base, Williams said. “The base grey is intended to sorta be a ghost flake grey if that makes sense.”

In four starts with JRM thus far behind the wheel of the No. 8, the 18-year-old placed in the top 20 twice, including a ninth-place finish at Atlanta in July. In his debut race for the team at Pocono, Mayer brought his Tire Pros Camaro home in the 18th position.

Fans can vote for their favorite design by visiting the voting page. Voting ends on August 18th.
