GMS Racing teammates Zane Smith and Sheldon Creed led the one and only practice for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on Friday Afternoon, in preperation for the series’ inaugural Toyota Tundra 225 at Circuit of The Americas.

On his seventh lap of practice, Smith’s No. 21 MRC Construction Chevrolet Silverado put down a time of 137.395 (2:17.395)  around the 3.41-mile road course, leading teammate Sheldon Creed by over three tenths of a second (137.735). Grant Enfinger (138.472), Ben Rhodes (138.768) and Todd Gilliland (139.493) rounded out the top-five.

The one-hour session was delayed by full-course cautions on multiple occasions, for various reasons, including mechanical issues, which Tate Fogleman, Roger Reuse and Sam LeComte all suffered in the session. The only incident in practice was Brad Gross and the CMI Motorsports No. 83, who spun entering turn one on his first lap on the track.

Kaz Grala, Matt Crafton, Chandler Smith, Sam Mayer and John Hunter Nemechek rounded out the top-10 in the session. John Hunter Nemechek and Michele Abbate – making her NCWTS debut — each ran a total of 15 laps around the course, with the No. 83 of Brad Gross and No. 3 of Roger Reuse only running a single – very off-pace — lap around Circuit of The Americas.

In the series’ only practice, seven drivers got their first opportunity to run laps in a NCWTS truck. Among them included: Logan Bearden (P21), Jack Wood (P26), John Atwell (P28), Cameron Lawrence (P30), Michele Abbate (P35), Samuel LeComte (P39) and Brad Gross (P42).
