Video: Chase Briscoe Catches Wall Trying to Stay on Lead Lap on Final Lap of Stage 1

Chase Briscoe had been having a decent opening Stage run in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Drydene 400 at Dover International Speedway, as he had been a top-15 car for the majority of Stage 1.

But on the final lap of the Stage, Briscoe found himself in danger of losing a lap to leader Kyle Larson. Briscoe went into turns one and two a little too hot, in an effort to stay on the lead lap and slid up the track and into the wall.

The contact with the wall brought out a natural caution to end Stage 1.

Briscoe would lose a couple of laps under caution making repairs, and will start Stage 2 three laps off the pace.

Briscoe, who had a rough start to his rookie NASCAR Cup Series season, had started coming to life the last few weeks, as he had scored two 11th-place finishes in the last three races. Chances are, his momentum will be stalled after his Stage 1 incident on Sunday.
