On May 29th, Dylan “Mamba” Smith will return to his natural habitat behind the wheel of a late model stock car as he’ll drive the No. 34 entry for Bryan Rogers in the 75-lap Carolina Pro Series event at Hickory Speedway.
The 28-year old, who will turn 29 on June 2nd, will have sponsorship from NASCAR Cup Series team owner Justin Marks, who will feature GoPro Motorplex — an ultra-popular go-kart facility in Mooresville, NC.
Despite the ongoing pandemic, GoPro Motorplex is still open and ready to help professional drivers stay tuned up and to give amateur racers the chance to feel the exhilaration of real racing.
Smith says the opportunity for this race came to be due to conversations with Marks in the winter when both drivers participated in the Snowflake 100.
“I’m really excited about this opportunity,” Smith told TobyChristie.com. “It kind of came about at the Snowflake at Five Flags Speedway last year when I was talking to Justin Marks on the grid. He offered up sponsorship of a couple of races for me this year in the Carolina area and this one fits my schedule quite well. And Bryan was kind enough to offer up his car for me to run.”
Smith, who hails from Vermont, has run Rogers’ cars before, including in the 2018 Snowflake 100.
In his two Snowflake 100 starts, Smith finished 23rd in 2018 and 27th in 2020. In addition to mixing it up on the track when sponsorship allows him to, Smith is also an on-air personality with Speed51.com as he co-hosts The Bullring, a streaming video show on the site that highlights the happenings in the local short track ranks.
