The 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series will kick-off their season with the 40th Annual Beef. It’s What’s for Dinner. 300 at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 13th, 2021. A total of 45 cars are entered for 36 spots in the field, which will be decided in single-car qualifying on Saturday Morning.

Note: In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, provisionals are handed out first to drivers that have attempted the most events, meaning that cars who attempted all 33 events in 2020 will be ranked above cars that attempted 32 or less events, even if they are lower in 2020 NXS Owner Points.

MATHEMATICALLY LOCKED IN:

Entering Saturday’s qualifying session, five drivers have the peace-of-mind of knowing their locked into the season-opener at Daytona, with the Xfinity Series only giving out four Owner Point provisionals and a Past Champions Provisional (if needed). Since there are no eligible champions outside the top-four in 2020 NXS Owner Points, there is gauranteed to be a fifth Owner Points provisional given out on Saturday.

RAIN PLAN:

SECTION 9.6.2.1 INCLEMENT WEATHER – RACE ONE:

The following will be the procedure for determining eligibility for and assigning the 40 starting grid positions for a NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Event:

  • All 40 available starting positions will be assigned, including those starting positions previously designated as Team Owner provisional starting positions.
  • Positions will first be assigned to the highest 30 vehicles in the previous calendar year’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Team Owner Points standings.
  • The next available starting position(s), if any, will be assigned to any Team Owner(s) who has won at least one Championship Race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series during the previous calendar year, with the vehicle licensed by the Team Owner, provided they have not already been assigned a starting position. NASCAR Xfinity Series Team Owner Points standings for the previous calendar year will determine the starting position(s) order amongst the previous year’s Race winners.
  • The next available starting position(s), if any, will be assigned to any driver(s) who has entered that Event in that vehicle by the entry deadline and has won at least one Championship Race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series during the previous calendar year, provided they have not already been assigned a starting position. NASCAR Xfinity Series Team Owner Points standings for the previous calendar year will determine the starting position(s) order amongst the previous year’s Race winners.
  • The next available starting position(s), if any, will be assigned to any Team Owner(s) whose driver listed on the Official Entry Blank/List for that Event by the entry deadline is a past NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion driver, is eligible for NASCAR Xfinity Series Driver Points, and who participated in the NASCAR Xfinity Series as a driver in the previous year. In the event of more than one eligible past Series Champion driver, positions will be assigned in descending order starting with the most recent Series Champion.
  • The next available starting position(s) will be assigned to the highest eligible Team Owner(s) who has made the most number of Qualifying attempts in the previous calendar year. If two or more vehicles have the same number of attempts, the previous calendar year’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Team Owner Points standings will prevail.
  • The next available starting position(s), if any, will be assigned to vehicles in the order in which their vehicle number was selected during the random drawing for that Event.
