On Friday, drivers and teams from the ARCA Menards Series got the chance to participate in a seven-hour testing session at Daytona International Speedway, the first day of a two-day testing event that has become a tradition for the series’ pre-season.

50 drivers and teams took to the 2.5-mile speedway on Friday, many of which had different plans and agendas for the day’s session.

Some entrants – like Kris Wright (02W) and Carson Hocevar (40H) — participated in order to receive approval to run in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season-opener at Daytona in February, while others – like Gracie Trotter (25), Corey Heim (20) and Howie DiSavino (32) — participated in the testing session to get familiarized with the venue, ahead of their superspeedway debuts in the ARCA Menards Series.

Derrick Lancaster (No. 29B) and Ty Gibbs (No. 18) posted the session’s fastest times, being the only two drivers to get around Daytona International Speedway in under 49-seconds.

Thad Moffitt(No. 46)  was third, followed by Sean Corr (No. 8) and Nick Sanchez (No. 2S) – who will run full-time in the ARCA Menards Series for REV Racing — rounded out the top-five.

Bret Holmes (No. 23H), Corey Heim (No. 20), Taylor Gray (No. 17), Rich Bickle (No. 45) and Jack Wood (No. 21) rounded out the top-10 speeds from Friday’s session.

Two drivers – Taylor Gray and Rich Bickle — completed more than 80 laps in Friday’s session – the total distance of the season-opening Lucas Oil 200 — while an additional 14 drivers ran over 125 miles throughout the session.

Robert Bruce (No. 3B), Parker Retzlaff (No. 10R), Stephanie Moyer (No. 10M), Tim Monroe (No. 11M), Justin Mondeik (No. 12M), Charles Buchanan (No. 87), Bryce Haugeberg (No. 94B), Chuck Heirs (No. 01H) and Toni Breidinger (No. 02B) did not take laps in Friday’s session, but are expected to complete at least a single lap in Saturday’s session.

Similar to Friday, Saturday’s session will run from 10:00am to 5:00pm (EST).
