It was an impressive weekend for Keelan Harvick, the son of 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick. The eight-year old scored a pair of wins in the SKUSA Winter Series at AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex in the Micro-Swift Karting division.

Driving the No. 62, Harvick — who started from the pole by virtue of winning the prior 11-lap race that determined the starting lineup — bested Max Cristea on Saturday for the win by nearly seven-tenths of a second. This event boasted a packed field of 30 racers.

According to timing and scoring from RaceHero.io, Harvick averaged a speed of 46.7 miles-per-hour in the 20-lap race around the 0.700-mile course.

In the second Micro-Swift race of the weekend, Harvick started third in his No. 62, but when the chips were on the table in the closing laps, the youngster put down his quickest times and took the win by 0.234-second over Augustus Toniolo.

Seems that his father Kevin isn’t the only one in the family known for closing out a race in the closing laps, anymore.

This race, like Saturday’s event, featured 30 entries.

According to RaceHero.io, Harvick averaged an even faster lap time than on Saturday, as his average speed was 47 miles-per-hour over the course of the 20 lap event on Sunday.

The 2021 SKUSA (SuperKart USA) Winter Series will conclude with two more events at AMR-Homestead-Miami Motorplex on February 12th and 14th.

While his name and early success in karting obviously doesn’t reserve him a spot in the upper echelon of NASCAR, it appears that the future is looking very bright for the son of one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR’s modern era.
