Kyle Larson Nabs Another Dirt Win, This Time in Copper Classic at Arizona Speedway

Kyle Larson continues to pick up hardware in what turned out to be his season of dirt. On Friday night, Larson scored his 44th dirt track win of the 2020 season in the opening night of the Copper Classic at Arizona Speedway. Larson, 28, held off Carson Macedo in an early battle before eventually pulling away to a more than two-second victory.

Here is video from the final lap of Friday night’s feature:

Larson started from the pole in the 25-lap feature event. 54 cars attempted to make the 24-car feature race.

Macedo finished runner-up, Buddy Kofoid was third and Rico Abreu, who had a brief stint in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series a few years ago, finished fourth. Colton Hardy rounded out the top-five finishers in the event.

Larson, who started 2020 as a NASCAR Cup Series driver for Chip Ganassi Racing, was suspended from NASCAR and fired from CGR after he used a racial slur during an iRacing event in April.

While Larson took time away to repair his image and give back to those who he wronged, he also took on an extensive dirt schedule. He has made headlines for his incredible rate of winning.

The massive amount of victories, and the serious nature in which Larson handled his suspension, led to the California-native landing a ride with Hendrick Motorsports for the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season. Larson will drive car No. 5 next season.
