Brett Moffitt Running Full NASCAR Xfinity Series Season for Our Motorsports in 2021

On Thursday Afternoon, Our Motorsports announced the full-time acquisition of 2018 NASCAR Truck Series Champion Brett Moffitt for the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

Moffitt will be contesting his first full-time season in NASCAR’s second-tier series, after spending his previous two years in search of a second NASCAR Truck Series Championship with Maury Gallagher and GMS Racing.

“2020 was a learning year for the entire Our Motorsports operation and the program is now ready to step up to another level,” said Moffitt, who also finished third overall in the 2020 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series driver points for GMS Racing in the No. 23 Chevrolet Silverado. “I’m thankful for the last two seasons with GMS Racing and the support Maury Gallagher, Spencer Gallagher, Ron Booth, Mike Beam and the entire team gave me.”

The pairing of Moffitt and Our Motorsports isn’t a brand-new one, as the 28-year-old piloted the team’s No. 02 Chevrolet Camaro in 29 of the series’ 33 events last season, fostering a single top-five finish and seven top-10 results.

“Our Motorsports has made great strides in 2020 and I’m really excited to carry that momentum into 2021 with Brett Moffitt behind the wheel,” said Williams. “Brett is the kind of driver that makes us better as an organization and I am confident in what we can accomplish together next year.”

Joe Williams will return to his role as the team’s crew chief for the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

Fr8 Auctions – a longtime supporter of the Grimes, Iowa-native — has already announced that they would be the primary sponsor of Moffitt’s No. 02 Chevrolet Camaro in four events – sponsoring both events at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.

Alongside drivers Andy Lally, Patrick Emerling and Jairo Avila, Jr., Moffitt was an important piece of the puzzle in the team’s 15th-place finish in the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series Owner Standings, a very impressive feat for an organization in its first full-time season.

More organization details and additional car sponsors will be announced in the future.

UPDATE – GMS Racing released the following statement Thursday Afternoon:

Brett Moffitt will not be returning to GMS Racing for the 2021 season. We can’t thank Moffitt enough for his commitment to GMS over the past two years. We wish him the best of luck at Our Motorsports next year.” – Mike Beam, President of GMS Racing
