As the GMS Racing stable has four trucks in the Round of 8 for the NASCAR Gander RV and Outdoors Truck Series Playoffs, GMS wants to keep the momentum moving into 2021. To do just that, they’ll need the same drivers to return.

GMS Racing announced on Friday that Sheldon Creed and Tyler Ankrum will return to the team in 2021, joining current teammate Zane Smith who agreed to an extension earlier this month.

“GMS is excited to have these talented drivers back for 2021,” said Mike Beam, president of GMS Racing. “We’ve been blessed with a great deal of success this season and these young men have represented our organization well on and off the track. I have no doubt their determination and success will continue to grow in 2021.”

Both Creed and Ankrum are currently in the fight to advance to the Championship 4, sitting 2nd in points, and 8th in points respectively. The other two GMS trucks in the playoffs, Brett Moffit and Zane Smith, currently sit 1st and 3rd in points in that order. Moffitt scored a win in Kansas which locked him into the Championship 4 in Phoenix in a few weeks.

Creed has been putting up stellar results in his second full-time season with GMS Racing. The Alpine, CA native has found victory lane three times, and has scored 10 top-10 finishes in 20 starts this year.

“I’m excited to be coming back for another year with GMS,” Creed said. “I feel like we’ve made a ton of improvements in so many ways this year compared to my rookie year. I’m thankful to Chevy and everybody at GMS for the opportunity to come back next season to show what we’re really capable of and continue to improve and compete for wins and a championship.”

Ankrum is currently in the midst of his first full-time season with GMS, qualifying for the playoffs for the second straight season. He finished 8th in points last season driving for DGR-Crosley.

“I’m thankful for another full-time year in the trucks with GMS next season,” Ankrum said. “This has been a learning year for our team, but I know we’ve got what it takes to go out and compete for wins. This is my first full-time season in trucks and to have the security and support from Maury (Gallagher) and Mike (Beam) to be back for another year is awesome. We still have a lot to prove and we’re in the perfect spot to do that for the rest of the season and next year as well.”

Both drivers will look to lock themselves into the Championship 4, and join Moffitt this weekend in Texas for the SpeedyCash.com 400. Coverage begins on Sunday, October 25th at 12:00PM EST on FOX Sports 1, the FOX Sports app, and the Motor Racing Network.
