Leavine Family Racing Throwing Back to Original Paint Scheme in Team’s Final Texas Race

Three races remain for Leavine Family Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series before the team rides off into the sunset at season’s end. This weekend’s race is especially special, as it’s in the Lone Star state of Texas — the home state of team owner Bob Leavine. The team will have an awesome paint scheme that throws back to the original design of their No. 95 car from the 2011 season.

Procore, a long time sponsor of the team, was gracious enough to allow the throwback in their final primary sponsorship of the team.

The red, blue and silver paint scheme was designed by Sam Bass back in 2011. On the modern version of the scheme, Leavine pays tribute to Bass with a decal just behind the rear wheels on the rear quarter panels of the car.

Bass, NASCAR’s first-ever officially licensed artist, passed away last February after a lengthy battle with ailments stemming from diabetes.

2020 was supposed to be a banner year for Leavine Family Racing, the once sluggish family owned team, who turned into a surprise contender after a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing in 2019. However, the COVID-19 pandemic affected many around the United States this year, including team owner Leavine, whose personal businesses suffered.

As a result, Leavine had to make the decision to sell his team charter and the assets that make up LFR.

The team, which has never recorded a win in their history, has three races left to find victory lane. Rookie Christopher Bell is coming off of a 10th-place finish at Kansas and has shown signs of being capable of pulling off a win throughout the year. How special would it be to see this throwback paint scheme reach victory lane this weekend in the Autotrader EchoPark 500 at Texas?
