Clint Bowyer Retiring from Full-Time NASCAR Competition; Moving to FOX Sports’ Broadcast Booth in 2021

Clint Bowyer will retire from full-time competition in NASCAR’s National Series at the conclusion of the 2020 season, the 41-year-old announced Thursday Evening. The 2008 NASCAR Busch Series Champion will join the FOX Sports talent roster beginning in 2021, calling the action in the NASCAR Cup Series alongside Mike Joy and Jeff Gordon.

The Emporia, Kansas-native will leave behind his full-time ride at Stewart-Haas Racing’s No. 14 Ford Mustang for 2021, the ride that he was hand chosen to take over after the three-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion hung up his helmet.

Boywer made his first start at NASCAR’s top-level in 2005, piloting the No. 33 for Richard Childress Racing. Over his 15-year tenure in the NASCAR Cup Series, Bowyer has driven for four race teams, including short stints at Michael Waltrip Racing and HScott Motorsports, before moving to SHR in 2017.

At the conclusion of the NASCAR Cup Series season, Bowyer will have accumulated a total of 541 starts at NASCAR’s top-level, ranking him 39th-place on the all-time list.

“I’ve had the opportunity to share this dream with all my family every step of the way. The reality is, it was all of our dreams. Mom and Dad still roll in to most every race in their motorhome just like they did when it all started when we were racing on two wheels! My brother Casey handles most of the business, and my brother Andy is my number one fan! Having my wife Lorra, and my kids Cash and Presley at the track with me each week and sharing the sport I love means everything to me.”

“Now to get to the point of what I want to tell you. I have a new opportunity to do what’s next in my life. In 2021 my suit will no longer be fireproof.”

I will be joining the FOX booth on Sundays. Just like my driving career, I will be part of a great team and organization with great teammates. To say I’m excited would be an understatement.”
