In Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, Joe Gibbs Racing teams will be carrying special decals to honor the memory of longtime team executive Joseph ‘JJ’ Damato.
Damato passed away on Saturday.
The racing community shared their thoughts, condolences and memories of Damato on Twitter.
JJ Damato spent his time making those around him happier. He spread positivity wherever he went: JGR, #NASCAR, or other places he once called home. He gifted us great friendship & an example of how to treat others.
We are greatly saddened by his loss & praying for his family. pic.twitter.com/7brngqSujv

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Damato family and the entire @JoeGibbsRacing organization. JJ had a tremendously positive impact on our sport and quite simply was a class act and a wonderful person. He will be missed.

While JGR and the entire sport will race with heavy hearts on Sunday, if JGR can get their special tribute to victory lane, it’ll be something special.
