Kyle Busch to Start at Rear Due to Multiple Pre-Race Inspection Failures

“It’s still 2020” – Kyle Busch.

NASCAR Cup Series Playoff contender Kyle Busch will be forced to start at the rear of the field in Saturday Night’s Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond Raceway, as Busch’s No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry failed technical inspection twice on Saturday Afternoon.

There were no other pre race inspection issues.

Busch was scheduled to start sixth-place on Saturday Night, and will have to claw his way back through the field without his normal crew chief, as Adam Stevens serves a one-race suspension from last weekend’s event at Darlington Raceway. Stevens received the one-race suspension because Busch’s No. 18 had two lug nuts not secured in post-race lug nut checks.

Jacob Canter – Busch’s crew chief in the NASCAR Xfinity Series — will take over crew chief duties for Stevens on Saturday Night at Richmond Raceway, as the No. 18 team looks to distance themselves from the cutoff line, which they only sit seven points ahead of entering Saturday’s second race of round one.
