David Ragan Returning to DGR-Crosley No. 17 for Rescheduled Event at Richmond Raceway

DGR-Crosley’s Select Blinds No. 17 Ford F-150 that David Ragan will get behind the wheel of at Richmond Raceway on September 10th, 2020.

Earlier in the season, fans were excited when it was announced that David Ragan and DGR-Crosley would be partnering to run April’s NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series event at Richmond Raceway, a facility that the NASCAR Truck Series has not contested a race on in nearly 15 years.

Albeit five months later than originally scheduled, Ragan will return to the seat of the No. 17 Ford F-150 for the second consecutive weekend, running the rescheduled NASCAR Truck Series event at Richmond Raceway, a representative from DGR-Crosley confirmed to TobyChristie.com.

“I’m really looking forward to racing one of DGR-Crosley’s F-150’s at Richmond,” Ragan said in the team’s initial announcement in March. “I’ve been friends with David [Gilliland] for a long time, and I see how much work he’s putting into this team and the success they’ve had early on. They have a shop full of great people and I’m glad that we could make this all happen.”

When the COVID-19 pandemic forced NASCAR to halt competition for nine-weeks, Richmond Raceway became one of the tracks that would have to realign their event schedule for 2020, leaving the status of the NASCAR Truck Series event at the track in limbo for the 2020 season. As a result, Ragan and DGR-Crosley attempted to run the events at Atlanta and Michigan this season, but were excluded by points because of large entry lists.

The Unadilla, Georgia-native filed another entry for this weekend’s NASCAR Truck Series event at Darlington Raceway, and will be allowed to compete in the event after the race’s entry list only featured 33 other trucks.

September 10th’s outing at Richmond Raceway will be the 32nd NASCAR National Series event that Ragan has competed at on the 0.75-mile race track, scoring three top-five finishes in the NASCAR Cup Series, as well as two top-fives in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Ragan will now have two consecutive opportunities to improve on his series-best fifth-place finish, earned driving for Roush Racing at Kentucky in 2006.

As originally planned, Select Blinds – a supporter of Ragan’s NASCAR Cup Series efforts since the 2019 Daytona 500 — will be the primary sponsor on Ragan’s No. 17 Ford F-150 at Richmond Raceway.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve raced in the Truck Series, and I’m incredibly thankful to Select Blinds for supporting me and allowing me to do this,” said Ragan. “This is what I wanted to do when I decided to stop racing full-time at the end of last season; I want to race in different series, with different teams. Obviously, we want to be competitive, and I have no doubt that DGR-Crosley will bring me a great truck.”
