NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series rookie Spencer Davis has tested positive for COVID-19 and his No. 11 team will withdraw from this weekend’s Henry Ford Health System 200 at Michigan International Speedway.

The news was reported and confirmed first by Catchfence.com’s Chris Knight.

The 21-year old driver tweeted a statement in which he states that he supports the protocols put in place by NASCAR and the CDC.

Davis, a Georgia-native, has a best finish of 12th in nine starts this season. His best effort came at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Davis sits 18th in the championship standings and he is seventh in the rookie of the year standings.

Davis is the latest NASCAR name to be impacted by COVID-19.

NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Jarrett, Jimmie Johnson and Brendan Gaughan are other former and current drivers who have tested positive for COVID-19.

There were 41 trucks on the entry list for Michigan, which meant the No. 17 DGR Crosley Ford F-150, which was to be driven by David Ragan, did not make the show.

However, even with Davis’ positive COVID test, DGR Crosley’s No. 17 truck will not compete this weekend either according to a DGR Crosley team representative as they would not have enough time to get the hauler prepared to get to Michigan International Speedway in time.
