After a four-month absence from the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Houston, Texas-native David Starr will make his return to the series, driving the No. 07 Chevrolet Camaro for SS Greenlight Racing in Saturday’s “My Bariatric Solutions 300”.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series veteran, Starr, had originally planned to run full-time for JD Motorsports in 2020, before funding issues prohibited him from returning to the seat of the No. 6 when NASCAR returned to competition in mid-May. Since then, Starr has only run one NASCAR Cup Series event for Rick Ware Racing, bringing the No. 53 Chevrolet Camaro home in 32nd at Martinsville Speedway.

SS Greenlight Racing’s No. 07 is involved in an agreement with Starr’s NASCAR Cup Series team Rick Ware Racing, in which RWR helps to prepare the cars for the No. 07 team, while also filling the drivers seat in the process, including Rick Ware Racing drivers Garrett Smithley, JJ Yeley, Carson Ware, Gray Gaulding and now David Starr. The SS Greenlight Racing No. 07 currently sits 19th in 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series Owner Standings, accumulating two top-tens and seven Top 20s through 15 races this season.

In 52 NASCAR National Series starts at Texas Motor Speedway – 3 NASCAR Cup Series starts, 20 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts and 31 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series starts — Starr has a best finish of third, driving the No. 3 Truck for John Menard in 2001. Starr’s best NASCAR Xfinity Series finish at the track is 14th, driving for Tri-Star Motorsports’ No. 44 team in 2014, one of the four Top 20 finishes the Houston-native has earned in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Texas.

In Starr’s four races this season, the 52-year old has a best finish of 18th, driving the No. 6 for JD Motorsports at Daytona International Speedway.
