Austin Cindric Takes First Xfinity Series Win of 2020 at Kentucky

Austin Cindric had been knocking on the door for his first win of the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. Thursday in the Shady Rays 200 at Kentucky Speedway, Cindric busted the door down.

Cindric was fast all race, as he led 41 laps on the night (second only to Noah Gragson’s 87), but never looked to have the race-winning car under him. However, when leader Chase Briscoe chose the inside line on a late race restart, Cindric’s car came to life on the outside and he took the lead.

Cindric would hold off the field in a frantic green-white-checkered finish to take his first win of the season.

Behind the Team Penske Driver was chaos as Justin Allgaier and Ronnie Bassett Jr. crashed with Timmy Hill just before the finish of the race. Bassett and Hill walked away and were treated and released from the infield care center, while Allgaier was sent to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Rookie Riley Herbst would score a surprising second-place finish, while Ross Chastain came home third.

Briscoe faded to a disappointing fourth-place finish, and Michael Annett scored solid top-five finish.

Anthony Alfredo scored a sixth-place finish after a hectic night in the No. 21 Richard Childress Racing entry.

Justin Haley, Kyle Weatherman, Ryan Sieg and Brett Moffitt rounded out the top-10 finishers in the race.
