Tim Viens Says That the Affarano Motorsports Trump Truck Will Not Compete at Daytona

UPDATE: 3:37 pm ET, February 13, 2020: In the wake of the story of Mike Affarano Motorsports’ hauler sliding into a ditch causing the team to lose more than four hours in their driving schedule ending their chance of making it to Daytona International Speedway in time for technical inspection, many began to speculate whether the team ever actually intended to run the event at all.

This all despite the fact that a wintry snow storm did hit the Chicago, Illinois area on Wednesday night.

Photos posted to Affarano’s facebook page on Wednesday night, of the alleged truck that was being taken to Daytona, looked unfinished to say the least. There was no dashboard, no seat, no windows, no rollbar padding and no dash wiring.

However, Affarano has stated that claims that he didn’t intend to make it to Daytona are absolutely false. In an effort to dispel any rumors, Affarano has released exclusive video of his No. 03 truck in the transporter to TobyChristie.com.

As you can see, all of the components that were missing in the photos posted to Facebook on Wednesday afternoon are present in the truck on the hauler. And Affarano showed the wheels that he had in the back of the pick up truck for good measure.

Affarano says that the truck in the photos from Facebook on Wednesday was not the same truck that was on the trailer heading to Daytona.

Orginal Story: 9:30 am ET February 13, 2020: While Mike Affarano confirmed to TobyChristie.com that there was no major damage sustained to the No. 03 team’s truck, trailer and race truck after it slid off the highway and into a ditch as road conditions were quite wintry on the way from Chicago, Illinois, it seems the team will not be able to compete at Daytona International Speedway.

Tim Viens, who is the driver of the No. 03 Truck, which was scheduled to be sponsored by the Trump / Pence 2020 through the Patriots PAC of America, posted that the team will not compete in Daytona following the incident on Wednesday night.

According to Viens, the tow truck took that was dispatched to pull the Affarano Motorsports team from the snowy ditch, took roughly four hours to pull the truck and trailer out. As a result, the Affarano Motorsports team will not arrive in Daytona in time for the cutoff to park in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series garage area.

As such, they will be unable to compete in this weekend’s race.

The team was one of 41 that were on the preliminary entry list for the NextEra Energy 250, which will start 32 trucks. The team was a long-shot to make it into the field, but at Daytona anything is possible.

Apparently, anything is possible on the way to Daytona — too.

Viens says he will post information about his next race sometime next week.
