Jesse Iwuji Looks to Improve on 2019 Results; Increase Schedule in 2020

NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series part-time driver Jesse Iwuji comes off of his most active season to date, running five NASCAR Truck Series races for Josh Reaume and Reaume Brothers Racing throughout the 2019 Season.

2019 was a year of improvement for Iwuji, with him scoring a career best 17th place finish at Texas Motor Speedway in March, as well as improving his average finish from 2018 by a whopping five positions, from twenty-sixth to twenty-first, in his five race schedule.

All five of Iwuji’s 2019 NGOTS Starts came on ovals that were longer than a mile long, track types Iwuji was inexperienced on prior to his 2019 NGOTS Debut at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Reflecting on his 2019 Season, Iwuji says: “My biggest challenge in 2019 was learning the trucks at the high speed 1.5 mile tracks. Up until that point [Las Vegas], I only had experience on tracks one mile or less, so it was a big learning experience for me”

Looking forward to his 2020 Season, Iwuji said: “My plan is to race as many races this year as my sponsorship budget and extra funds from the businesses I have started allow. Racing isn’t cheap nor is it free, so money is a huge factor in the amount of races I’ll be able to run this year. I definitely plan on running quite a few though”.

Iwuji mentioned that no deals were finalized as of yet, but “The moment a brand finalizes sponsorship, we can go after the races that we want to do”.

Iwuji’s goals for the 2020 season? Gain experience on numerous tracks, further improve his finishes from 2019 and finish all of the races that he starts.
