Halmar Friesen Racing Aligning With Kyle Busch Motorsports, Toyota in 2020

Stewart Friesen’s No. 52 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Series team will have a new look in 2020.

The team will switch manufacturers from Chevrolet to Toyota, and they will have a new alliance with Toyota Racing Development where they purchase their trucks from Kyle Busch Motorsports.

“We were all very impressed after spending time with Toyota,” Friesen said. “TRD has been welcoming to our organization. With their support, knowledge and technology, we hope to bring our team to another level.”

One thing that won’t change — aside from Friesen being behind the wheel — is Tripp Bruce staying as the crew chief. A team press release has also stated that the team has added Gene Nead as competition director.

Friesen’s No. 52 had fielded GMS Racing Chevrolet Silverado trucks over the last couple of years. Friesen won two races in 2019 and made it into the Championship 4 in the Series at Homestead.

The Halmar Friesen Racing team will look to take a step forward toward a title this season.
