Ratings For NASCAR Cup Championship Race Down From 2018, NBC Yearly NASCAR Ratings End Flat

A few weeks ago, NASCAR and NBC Sports seemed to be building momentum with the television rating surrounding the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

However, after a lackluster final three races of the year from a ratings standpoint, ratings for NBC Sports’ half of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season ended up flat with where they were a year ago.

Sunday’s Cup Series championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway scored a 2.2 rating (down from a 2.5 in 2018) and registered 3.7-million viewers (down from 4.1-million in 2018).

  1. Toby, want to thank you for your help this year. I got all my printouts in the format that I like and filled two clipboards with race sheets and results. Our pool has 16 players and the end of race season party was Sunday. Huge spread, cold beer, but couldn’t hear the race..sigh…Anyway, thanks again. Now for the kicker…..have you heard anyone else looking at GIBBS, 1,2, & 3 and being a tad skeptical? I watched Eric Jones (That Jones Boy, got the tshirt, thank you Ned Squires), slide into third place with over 50 laps left and they just rode and rode, imo……I have a bad taste in my mouth. I went to RRacing Reference today and went back thru all the Homestead final races and not once did it happen before. Many times the Champ contenders did not win, too. Early 2000’s there were races where the champ was declared with 3 or 4 races to go. So that sucks, but I just thought this looks crappy. All 3 Joe Gibbs cars. Now I’m not saying Gibbs did anything, I just think this race was a four man race and the rest of the field could have stayed off track. Chase format failed here, imo…well, have a great off season. keep me posted. I am not sure when the banquet is, so let us know that so I can record it. Thank you, again
