Inspection Live Blog: Hamlin Passes Inspection, Officially on Martinsville Pole, Four Cars Fail

Denny Hamlin is officially on the pole for Sunday’s First Data 500 as his No. 11 Toyota has passed post-qualifying/pre-race inspection.

Chase Elliott, Martin Truex Jr., Aric Almirola and Ryan Blaney have also passed, so five are all good so far.

This post will continue updating as Inspection rolls along.


10:00 AM ET

Michael McDowell, Clint Bowyer, Erik Jones, Daniel Suarez and Joey Logano have all passed.

The top-10 cars have all now completed inspection successfully.


10:05 AM ET

William Byron and Matt DiBenedetto have officially passed inspection.


10:15 AM ET

Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson and Brad Keselowski have also passed tech. The top-15 is set.


10:25 AM ET

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., David Ragan, Daniel Hemric, Chris Buescher and Alex Bowman have all made it successfully through inspection.

The top-20 is now fully set.


10:35 AM ET

Ryan Preece and Kevin Harvick have now passed inspection. The top-22 are set, and all eight Playoff drivers have passed inspection.


10:42 AM ET

Austin Dillon and Jimmie Johnson have passed inspection. Top-24 set, no failed inspections yet.


10:50 AM ET

Kurt Busch and Bubba Wallace have passed inspection, but we also have our first failures — Ryan Newman. Newman will forfeit his 27th starting spot and Corey LaJoie will lose his 28th starting spot as a result.


10:57 AM ET

Ty Dillon and Paul Menard have passed inspection.


11:08 AM ET

Matt Crafton has passed inspection.


11:13 AM ET

Landon Cassill has passed inspection, while BJ McLeod has become the third to fail.


11:29 AM ET

Inspection is complete. Only four failures: Ryan Newman, Corey LaJoie, BJ McLeod and Timmy Hill

Newman and LaJoie passed on their second trip to tech, while McLeod and Hill failed on the second attempt. Both McLeod and Hill will be down a crew member as a result.
