Ross Chastain’s Truck Fails Post-Race Inspection, Brett Moffitt Awarded the Win

It is something that we knew was a possibility as soon as NASCAR announced that post-race inspection would take place at the track, but it’s a real gut punch to Ross Chastain and the Niece Motorsports team.

After winning the M&M’s 200 on Sunday, Chastain’s No. 44 truck was found to be too low on the front end in post-race inspection. As a result, the win and the $50,000 triple truck challenge bonus have been stripped from Chastain and awarded to second place finisher Brett Moffitt.

This is Moffitt’s first victory of the 2019 season.

Al Niece, Niece Motorsports’ team owner released a statement following inspection that indicates the team will appeal the decision by the sanctioning body.

“Our Niece Motorsports team works hard to ensure that our race trucks are within the confines of NASCAR’s rules. Both of our Chevrolets passed opening and pre-race inspections. We believe that the No. 44 truck sustained minor damage during the event, which left the truck too low following the race. We will appeal NASCAR’s decision. Regardless of the outcome, this team will be prepared to go to Gateway and win again.”

  1. This is bs Nascar must not checking these race cars and trucks! Starting to get sick of nascar !!!!!!!

  2. How can a truck that passed pre-race inspection be considered too low at the end of the race and the reason not be what happened on the track? Is Nascar saying that his pit crew may have caused it to lower? Other than broken springs and stuff, I can’t figure out what else would make it ride low…….Of course, I’m no mechanic, but still………You must be devastated. I know you have been following his races closely.
