At the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Wednesday, MBM Motorsports announced that Joey Gase will drive their No. 35 Toyota Supra for the full NASCAR Xfinity Series season in 2019. Additionally, Gase will drive the No. 66 car for the team part-time in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

“I am very excited and thankful for the opportunity Carl and MBM Motorsports is giving me this year,” said Gase. “Every offseason is stressful when you don’t know what your plans for the following season will be. This offseason by far has been the most stressful of my career with some unforeseen things happening.”

Rumors were swirling this offseason that Gase had reached a deal to drive the No. 32 Ford Mustang for GoFas Racing full-time, but the deal fell through and the team landed Corey LaJoie to drive their car.

It was during this lull of not know what was next that opportunity came knocking for Gase.

“One evening I was sitting in my office trying to figure out what my next move should be and then out of the blue Carl gave me a call and we talked for about two hours over the phone and now here we are,” Gase said. “MBM Motorsports has grown and improved their program a lot over the last two years, especially the end of last season. I am very excited to be a part of that growth in 2019.”

According to a team release, Gase will have sponsorship from Eternal Fan, Donate Life partners, Medline, Agri Supply, Pro Master, Page Construction and more announcements will be coming soon.

Team owner, Carl Long is excited to get the year kicked off.

“Having an experienced driver in Joey Gase to start our season is a huge blessing,” said MBM team owner Carl Long. “He has worked hard to bring sponsorship to MBM. Today’s driver has to be gifted in handling a car and promotions. Lucky for us Joey is one of the best in all of NASCAR at doing both. Look for us to turn heads this year.”

As far as Gase’s part-time Cup Series schedule, that will be known later, but the team did let it be known that the driver will be attempting to run the Daytona 500.
